“A Road No One Traveled: Side Effects of Coaching” spotlights leadership, resilience, and the power of teamwork
Millsboro, DE – 21/08/2025– Raymond Kiddy, longtime soccer coach and educator, has released his memoir A Road No One Traveled: Side Effects of Coaching, a powerful reflection on four decades of shaping young lives through sports.
The book captures Kiddy's journey from growing up in Lonaconing to leading teams across high school, college, and professional levels. It highlights unforgettable moments, including the tragic yet inspiring 2017 Bishop Walsh girls’ soccer season, showing how adversity forged resilience and unity among players and coaches alike.
“The 2017 Bishop Walsh girls’ soccer team lost eleven regular-season games, one mother, a brother, a grandmother, and two playoff games,” Kiddy recalls. “As their head coach, I saw this team lose confidence, team play, and one player to a torn ACL. But I also saw them gain mental strength and social togetherness.”
Kiddy hopes his story will inspire today’s youth and remind readers that life’s toughest seasons often teach the most valuable lessons.
